Today marks the 110th anniversary of the Korean American arrival to America.Celebrations were held across the country as part of Korean American Day, reported Yonhap
“Since the pioneers have arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 13, 1903, Koreans have played and continue to serve a vital role in shaping communities throughout our great nation,” Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) said in a statement.
Among those celebrating was the Korean American president of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim. He moved to American when he was 5.
“I have chosen to work in an area where the whole point is to try and give people more choices,” he said. “Now that so many Korean-Americans have choices, what I tell them is to make the most use of them.”
