Filipino Americans in California are living on the statistical extremes. A report by the the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice found Filipino Americans have the lowest admission rate into the University of California along with one of the lowest per capita incomes in the state. Yet they also have the second least amount of poor among Asian Americans.
The Inquirer took a closer look at the number for Filipino Amercians from the report , “A Community of Contrasts: Asian Americans and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders, 2013,”
And the numbers do seem to bear out the report’s title. Among the most interesting findings, Filipino Americans have a high mixed marriage rate with 16 percent interracial. 11 percent have no health insurance. A more detailed look at the numbers for Filipino Americans can be found in the Inquirer
