Asian Week: 18 Million Hearts Shines Light on Immigration Reform for Asian Americans

Statue of LibertyThe Asian American Center for Advancing Justice and 18 Million Rising have launched the 18 Million Hearts campaign in support of comprehensive immigration reform, reports Asian Week,

“The time has come for us to mobilize and let other Americans know how the broken immigration system is separating and hurting Asian American and Pacific Islander families and communities,” said Betty Hung, policy director of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center.

The campaign is urging Asian Americans to write their congressional representative demanding a clear road map to citizenship, the reunification of families, the end of unfair deportations, and equal immigration rights for the LGBT community.

“The 18 Million Hearts campaign will highlight our stories as immigrants and as descendants of immigrants to build America’s future together,” said Chris Punongbayan, deputy director of the Asian Law Caucus

More on the campaign and an on line petition drive can be found in Asian Week,
