The Chinese American community of the San Francisco Bay Area this week honored Chen Guangcheng, a blind Chinese human rights activist living in exile in the United States, reports the Epoch Times.
“High level CCP (Chinese Communist Party) members have already reached a consensus: the only method they’ve got left is to use violence to maintain their rule,” Chen said. “But, relying on violence isn’t going to last long. It only requires the people to overcome their fear, and rule by violence will fail.”
Chen (seen here with Rep. Nancy Pelosi) is now a visiting scholar at New York University after leaving China a year ago where he escaped from house arrest.
“This is how you figure it in China,” Chen said. “The ferocity with which someone has been persecuted is a question of whether or not they’re really having a big impact in their human rights work. The more on point, the bigger the impact, the more sincerely you do it, then the Communist Party will absolutely use an iron fist on you. Gao Zhisheng is that case.”
