The University of Illinois at Chicago will kick off Asian American Awareness Month tomorrow with a talk on “gender and desire in contemporary Southeast Asia,” according to the university’s website.
More than a dozen events will run through the month, including discussions on media and fashion to academic presentations and a martial arts workshop. The month-long event closes with a variety show featuring YouTube singer Jenny Suk and the Mitchell Grey Band on April 27.
