71 years ago Thursday, April 25, A Day Japanese Americans in Venice, CA will never forget. That was the day they were told to report to 933 Venice Blvd to board a bus to the incarceration camp in Manzanar.
A committee has raised $80,000 to construct a memorial marker at the northwest corner of Venice and Lincoln boulevards. But they remain short of their goal, reports the Argonaut Online.
That’s why on the 71st anniversary of this infamous day in their lives, many will gather for a fundraiser for the project. Bento boxes will be sold for 20 dollars with all proceeds being donated for the memorial.
