Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng will be leaving NYU, reportedly at the request of China, according to an exclusive story in the New York Post.
Chen arrived at NYU after escaping house arrest in China. An unnamed source told the New York Post that China is pressuring the university which has permits from China to build a new campus in Shanghai.
“The big problem is that NYU is very compromised by the fact they are working very closely with the Chinese to establish a university,” said the New York based source.
NYU denies the allegations, saying Chen was never intended to continue working on the campus long term.
Word is is that Chen is in talks to move to Fordham Law School, also in New York.
