Asian American Matt Stonie of San Jose today set a new record in the Potsticker Eating Contest by eating 268 potstickers in 10 minutes, besting the old record by two, reports the LA Daily News.
Stonie beat last year’s champ and previous record holder, veteran Joey Chestnut, the world’s top professional eater.
The competition was part of Nissei Week activities in Little Tokyo.
“This was a big win from me,” said Stonie, who finished second in 2012. “This was one of the biggest for me so far and I trained hard for this.”
RE: Potsticker Eating contest: Another Asian American who has beaten Joey Chestnut is Sonya Thomas, winner of women’s hot dog fame. It was a recent chicken wing eating contest. 181 vs. 160.
