The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Sikh Coalition will release a new report Thursday on bullying against Asian American students in New York.
Asian Americans are most likely to be the target of bullying in the classroom more than any other ethnic group. Harassment based on both race and religion are considered the leading causes.
The report is expected to show that awareness of the problem is at a high, and as a result reports of bullying incidents are also up.
Both AALDEF and the Sikh Coalition are scheduled to hold a joint news briefing Thursday morning.
Students will also be on hand to give first hand accounts and to address how teachers and administrators are responding to the problem.
