Yesterday would have been the late Senator Daniel Inouye’s 89th birthday.
The occasion was marked with the opening of the newest section of the Daniel K Inouye Highway, reports KHON
The Highway bridges east & west in Hawaii, a fact noted by Inouye’s widow, Irene.
“The ability to bring together east and west and really bring a community together with public officials, with the military, it was a very special part of Dan’s vision,” Senator Inouye’s wife Irene Inouye said.
The former Hawaii Saddle Road was renamed in the Senator’s honor after passage of a resolution in the Hawaii legislature.
