A photo posted on Facebook by nationally renown Pastor Rick Warren has sparked a backlash from Asian American Christians, reports Religion News Service
The picture depicted the Red Guard during China’s Cultural Revolution with the caption “The typical attitude of Saddleback Staff as they start work each day.”
“Has any Red Guard ever raped your mother?” Sam Tsang blogged in response to Warren’s post. “You just reminded [immigrants of] the nightmare they left behind and for what? For a joke on Monday?”
Warren who originally defended the photo as satire took the photo down and apologized.
