Bakitwhy: 100 Years of Filipino American Accomplishments

CATEGORIES

Emil GuillermoBakitwhy has a great piece on 100 years of Filipino American accomplishments.

The story breaks it down to the last ten decades. It is in no way a comprehensive list, but gives a pretty good overview.

From Pedro Flores, the inventor of the yo yo, to Megan Young, the first Filipino American crowned Miss World, several milestones are touched upon.

Some of the names such as Emil Guillermo, the first Asian American male to host a regularly scheduled national newscast, you may recognize.

Others you may not.

Filipino Americans have made contributions to pop culture, the labor movement, education and politics–just to name a few fields.

You can read about it in Bakitwhy.
