Chinese American rapper MC Jin is scheduled to release his latest single tomorrow, Hypocrite.

Jin was inducted into the BET Hall of Fame after winning seven consecutive freestyle battles.

But as the Gospel Herald reports, his debut on the Ruff Ryders label fell flat and he has since shifted his focus to his Christian faith.

It’s appropriate that Jin has gained full acceptance in the African American community with his induction into the BET Hall of Fame, but some in the Asian American community wonder if Asian American hip hop artists are just trying to be black.

That’s the experience of Justin Chan who describes himself as fully embracing the hip hop culture in a blog for Policy Mic.  It’s also something that’s been witnessed by other.

“I find it offensive because people are trying to place limits on an art form that was always supposed to be about the community and the people,”Chan quotes Lance Dixon as saying. Dixon has written for According 2 Hip Hop.
