For the first time the US Embassy in the Philippines has granted a visa to a gay couple, reports ABS CBN.
The granting of the visa was made possible by the recent US Supreme Court ruling striking down much of the Defense of Marriage Act or DOMA.
The embassy says it wants to educate gay Filipinos about their newly granted rights.
The couple which received the visa will now be able to end their 10-year international long distance relationship and get married in California.
