A settlement has been reached in a $55 million jackpot dispute(file photo) won, but never awarded to a Vietnamese American player, reports Thanh Nien.
It happened at the Palazzo Club at the luxury Sheraton Hotel in downtown Ho Chi Minh City.
The settlement between slot player Ly Sam and casino owner Dai Duong Joint Venture ends the three year court battle.
It started in 2009 when Sam was playing slot machine number 13 when the screen suddenly flashed $55,542,296.73.
The casino manager refused to give Sam his winnings, but told Sam he would collect his jackpot in three days.
Sam took a picture of the winning amount and asked witnesses to sign a paper agreeing that he had won.
The casino later refused to pay saying the machine had malfunctioned.
Last January the court ordered Dai Duong to pay in full.
The casino appealed.
The exact amount of the settlement has not been disclosed.
