Those in the know may remember the Mountain Brothers as the first Asian American hip hop group signed to a major label.
Now one of its members has released a compilation CD featuring various Asian American artists from all over the world, reports Source
Producer Chops is no light weight. Since Mountain Brothers disbanded, he’s produced for The Lonely Island, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Kanye West, just to name a few.
His new CD, Strength in Numbers, is a result of a successful Kickstarter campaign.
“I don’t know if this project will pan out as well as other things I’m doing,” said Chops. “But it’s not always about business. Reach-wise, I still hope for more. It’s a grassroots situation, and there’s been some good attention from the Asian American community, but I feel the artists and the music deserve more.”
Strength in Numbers is available on iTunes and Amazon.
You can hear Strength in Numbers in its entirety and read about how the artists for Strength in Numbers came about and some of the challenges Chops faced in Source.
