More troubling news about American Kenneth Bae.
The State Department says the Seattle-area resident has been moved from a hospital back to a labor camp where he is scheduled to serve out the remainder of his 15 year sentence of hard labor, reports CNN.
“We remain gravely concerned about Mr. Bae’s health,” said Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki. She urged North Korea to grant Bae “special amnesty and immediate release on humanitarian grounds.”
Bae, the longest held American ever imprisoned in North Korea, was arrested in November 2012 and eventually convicted of trying to overthrow the government through religious activity.
He was working both as a tour guide and a Christian missionary at the time of his arrest.
According to the North Koran newspaper Choson Sinbo, Bae has been told to expect a visit from US Special Envoy Robert King on Monday.
However, the US which had previously requested a meeting between King and North Korean officials, say they don’t know of any plans for such a visit.
