The first Asian American to serve as an officer in the US Marines has died at the age of 87, reports ABC7 (photo from LegionofValor.com).
Major Kurt Lee served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The war hero is credited with saving the lives of 8,000 men in Korea.
Just last month, he served as honorary grand marshal of the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco.
