Hawaii Five-0 was given what’s commonly referred to as the Friday night death slot. It’s where shows are sent to die, a sort of a television graveyard since viewership is traditionally lower on Friday night.
For its first three seasons, Hawaii Five-o aired on Monday nights. But this year not only did it thrive on Friday night, it actually increased its viewership by nearly one million viewers, according to Hawaii Magazine.
CBS has announced the show featuring Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park has been renewed for a fifth season.
This season the show also featured a special episode that centered around the incarceration of Japanese Americans in Hawaii.
But it’s also been criticized for not having more Asian American characters on an island that’s more than 50 percent Asian American.
