Sports Illustrated is reporting that Kim Ng is one of four finalists for general manager of the San Diego Padres.
Ng is currently the senior vice president of baseball operations for Major League Baseball. She was interviewed July 11 and was one of at least eight candidates interviewed for the position.
She also interviewed for the same position with the Padres in 2009 and also with the Dodgers (2005) and Mariners (2008), according to MLBlogs.com.
She has been working in Major League Baseball since 1991.
“You have to be persistent to break into this game, and you have to be really good to stay in this game,” says Ng in a story published by Sabr.org in 2011. “That takes a daily level of commitment.”
