Two icons in the Bay Area Chinese American community have gifted $1 million dollars to Asian Health Services in Oakland for a new health clinic.
The Mercury News reports the clinic will be named the Rolland & Kathryn Lowe Medical Center after the generous donors.
“My wife, Kathy, and I are happy to make this gift to Asian Health Services,” Dr. Lowe said. “The gift goes toward the new clinic and will benefit many medically underserved patients in our community.”
Rolland has numerous honors and is known for his generosity serving low income residents in his medical practice.
His wife Kathy has served as board chair of Chinese for Affirmative Action.
A dedication ceremony for the new clinic will be held on Friday.
