In an article titled Asian Americans should care more about the Black Lives Matter movement, Nealay Vasavda writes about prejudice within the Asian American community.
The blog in the Concordiensis, the campus newspaper for Union College in the New York city of Schenectady, talks about not prejudice against African Americans, but the prejudice Asian Americans have for each other.
Vasavda is Indian American, but often doesn’t feel accepted as Asian Americans by other Asians. She sees Chinese versus Indian, Korean versus Japanese and so on.
I disagree with her premise that Asian American don’t care about the black lives matter. I’ve seen plenty of evidence to the contrary on Twitter. But she does raise some good points that do need to be discussed in the Asian American community.
