Seattle Seahawk Doug Baldwin will take the field at the Super Bowl in Phoenix today as quarterback Russell Wilson’s favorite receiver (photo by Jeff of Doug Baldwin at last year’s Super Bowl parade).
But five years ago as a junior at Stanford under coach Jim Harbaugh, Baldwin almost quit the game, reports the Business Insider.
“Jim and I did not have the best relationship while I was at Stanford. I was immature, a young athlete who thought I knew everything,” Baldwin, whose grandmother is Filipino, told ESPN.
His playing time disappeared that year, only to bounce back in his senior season when he made 58 catches.
Today he is the leading receiver for the Hawks with 66 receptions, averaging an impressive 12.5 yards per catch.
Baldwin went undrafted, but was signed by the Seahawks as a free agent.
You can read how he turned his career around in the Business Insider.
