Liang faces 15 years in prison for second degree manslaughter of
. The indictment was applauded by the victim’s family, but condemned by the police officer’s association.Liang was holding a gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other when he opened the door to the stairwell and the gun went off.
DA Kenneth Thompson had obtained three indictments against police officers in two incidents in recent months.
Grand juries, however, have declined two indict officers in the highly publicized deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
