Long Beach Poly High School student Jesse Yuth who died assisting in the successful rescue of a female friend is being remembered as a hero.
ABC7 News reports the rescue happened at Hermit Falls in the Angeles National Forest. A high school member of the ROTC, the private s funeral was held in front of the US Army recruiting center in Long Beach. Yuth’s parents describe their son as devoted to his military training and say he had committed to joining the military after his high school graduation.
“When we try to recruit kids, they usually have one or two of the Army values in them. Jesse had them all,” U.S. Army Sgt. Clifford Brown said.
