What Are You Thankful For This Thanksgiving Holiday?

Surely by now your turkey is being brined or prepped in some way that would make it edible for your loved ones on Thanksgiving day. The holiday, however, isn’t just about eating till you’re at the last hole on your belt.

According to History.com, the first unofficial Thanksgiving was a celebration of the pilgrim’s successful harvest of corn in November 1621. A second one followed in 1623 to show thanks for the end of a terrible drought that year.

There were many “thanksgivings” across the young nation after that, but it wasn’t till 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving as a national holiday.

At AsAmNews, we wanted to know what people are thankful for this year and this is what they said on camera.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
