A coalition of mostly immigrant groups from the Chinese community is calling on federal authorities to investigate racial bias in admissions against Asian Americans at Yale, Brown and Dartmouth, reports the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The group is also urging Asian American groups to jointly file complaints against the three Ivy League schools.
The complaint expected to be released Monday to the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice alleges the three schools have the lowest Asian American admission rates. The groups also contend the University’s admission of Asians has remained flat even though the number of applicants has risen dramatically.
Similar complaints against Princeton and Harvard have both failed in the last year.
The issue has divided the Asian American community with many long established Civil Rights groups comprised mostly of second, third and fourth generation Asians advocating for affirmative action and immigrant groups opposed.
The list of groups involved in the latest complaints range from a day care center to the 80-20 Initiative.
