Asia Times: Woman Accused of Beating Co-ed for Speaking Chinese

Tempe Light RailA 22-year old woman who is accused of yelling “Bitch, go f—ing back to China” and then beat the Chinese co-ed from Arizona State University is facing a charge of aggravated assault, reports the Asia Times.

The victim, Xiaolin Shi, says the suspect harassed her and a friend throughout the light rail ride and then followed her when she got off before punching her in the face.

ABC15 reports suspect Kalie Rutledge, 22,was upset Shi was speaking Mandarin saying “I don’t speak Chinese, shut the ____ up!”

“I lost consciousness for a few seconds, and then I found myself on the ground with blood all over my face,” Shi said.

Shi suffered a broken bone in the face and her eye was left swollen.

Just four months ago, a Chinese international student at Arizona State was shot and killed. A woman who rear ended the student before the shooting is facing charges which has been described by authorities as a “random act of violence.”
