It was a wish come true for five-year-old Eric Cao.
The young boy was made a lieutenant for the day with the New York Police Department, courtesy of the Make a Wish program.
Not only was he given a uniform and allowed to lead roll call at the precinct, he went out on patrol and arrested a man pretending to steal the rims off a car.
“You caught the bad guy,” asked a CBS NY reporter.
“Yes,” Eric simply responded.
The arrest came complete with a police dog and helicopter flying overhead.
Eric lives with intestinal failure. He was told he could have any wish he wanted. He chose to be a police officer.
“Hopefully the more nutrition his body absorbs, and the stronger he gets, doctors say he may be able to reduce his medicine,” his mother said through a Mandarin translator to ABC7
She says Eric and the entire family will appreciate the experience for their entire lives.
