Wow, this is frankly stunning.
We heard this from our partners at YOMYOMF
Ed Skrein has backed out of his starring role in the upcoming reboot of Hellboy rather than accept a role that is whitewashed.

Well well well, what do we have here? It appears that all our dissenting voices about the whitewashing of the HELLBOY Reboot has been heard with ED SKREIN exiting the project. SKREIN was going to play Major Ben Daimio, who in the comic books is ASIAN. When SKREIN was announced as cast in HELLBOY, there was huge outcries over social media. Here is the post a week ago written by Offender Anderson about the controversy, when SKREIN was first cast for this project. I am still personally in WTF mode in terms of how and why the casting directors initially thought this was all okay to cast a white dude for a character which is meant to be Asian?

RE: Ed Skrein Pulls out of Hellboy rather than play Whitewashed Role: Ed’s decision is very unusual but a great step none the less. Hellboy reboot is shaping up to be a great movie and the shooting will start next month probably. Can’t wait for the movie to come out.
