San Jose native and Los Angles resident Michelle Vo has been identified as one of 59 victims of the Las Vegas massacre.
The Mercury News reports VO attended the Route 91 Harvest Festival with some girlfriends in Las Vegas, and decided to stay for the closing act, Jason Aldean, when her friends left.
A bullet hit the left side of her chest. A man she met at the concert covered her body and then later moved Vo out of the area.
“I’m thankful that he was there, and we are grateful she did not die alone,’’ said one of Vo’s sisters, Cathy Warren.
Vo worked at the Pasadena branch of New York Life Insurance Company, reported SF Gate.
“She’s just a very strong, independent, fearless woman. A go-getter,” co-worker Katie Tran said. “She’ll do whatever needs to be done.”
She was also considered one of the top performers at her job.
“As a woman myself and as a young woman, she was an inspiration,” said another co-worker, Katie Ha. “She was the definition of a boss girl. She was a boss woman.”
Vo’s father, mother and sister fled Vietnam in 1985. They eventually moved to Orange County via Thailand.
