Kumail Nanjiani is on a roll. From his role on HBO’s popular series Silicon Valley to his critically acclaimed movie The Big Sick and now last night’s featured appearance on Saturday Night Live, if the comedian is not a house hold name yet, he’s certainly taking big steps towards that.
That’s saying a lot for a Muslim and Pakistani American comedian.
His ethnicity and religion are things in certainly doesn’t hide.
Last night he opened SNL with jokes about race mixing (he’s married to a White woman), to the irony of Sikhs being mistaken for Muslim and how that puts them in a strange dilemma, to his message to racists that they really need to try harder, Nanjiani made many humorous stinging comments and manage to do all of that with a smile.
If you missed last night’s SNL, it’s worth taking a few minutes to check out at least Nanjiani’s monologue.
