This summer, Lea Salonga will join the cast of Annie as Grace Farrell, assistant to billionaire Oliver Warbucks. The production will run at the Hollywood Bowl as part of its annual summer staged musicals, reports Playbill.
The production will celebrate the 90th birthday of Charles Strouse, Annie‘s Tony Award winning composer. Annie will have three performances this summer at the Hollywood Bowl – “Friday, July 27, at 8PM; Saturday, July 28, at 8PM; and Sunday, July 29, at 7:30PM, with single tickets on sale Sunday, April 29,” according to Broadway World.
Salonga is world renowned for her work in musical theatre and for lending her voice to two Disney princesses, Jasmine and Mulan. As a child, she had roles in many television shows and stage musicals, including a production of Annie in 1980, in which she played the title role. The Filipina singer and actress made her international Broadway debut at age 18, when she originated the lead role of Kim in Miss Saigon, for which she became the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award.
