Councilperson Deletes Shared Posts Called Hateful

John GrassoFacebook posts shared by an Anne Arundel County councilperson in Maryland have been deleted after being called out as hateful by the Council on American Islamic Relations or CAIR, reports the Capital Gazette.

John Grasso has since apologized while at the same time defending his actions

According to WBAL, one of the posts read “One nation under God, not Allah.” Another said “Share if you think President Trump should ban Islam in American schools.”

Other Republican candidates have also spoken out against Grasso.

“For the past four years, I have worked to protect all citizens of Anne Arundel County. I do not support the recent comments made by Mr. Grasso, nor will I lend my name to any campaign platform that preaches divisiveness in our community,” said State’s Attorney Wes Adams who is running for re-election.
