Hopefully this is the first of many awards to come.
The Hollywood Reporter reports the Hollywood Film Awards will honor the cast of Crazy Rich Asians with a Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award.
It will be presented November 4th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The cast features Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Jimmy O. Yang, Ronny Chieng, Remi Hii and Nico Santos.
In an interview with the Borneo Post, Yeoh said she “was very upset” when she originally received the script written by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim.
“Eleanor was written as nasty, mean, mean, not nice at all. I don’t think that Eleanor comes from that motivation. She comes from the love of her son and what it takes to be the wife and the strength that’s necessary when you put the needs of your family before your own.”
She praised director Jon Chu for his willingness to change the script.
The film has a worldwide box office of $230 million with a release in China still to come.
