A restaurant owner found dead in Anchorage last month disappeared shortly after his restaurant burned down in March, reports the Anchorage Daily News.
The daughter of Chung Ho Kang said he was working with investigators to determine the cause of the fire when he went missing about a month later.
Authorities suspect the fire was set intentionally.
A coroner identified a human skull found in January in a park as Kang. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of death, but in January they said they did not know if foul play was involved.
Kang ran the Bar-B-Que Pit for 15 years. Another former manager said Kang spent 12 hours alongside his wife each day to prepare food.
“He was one of those employers who you want to work for because they appreciate your work,” Leah Brown said about Kang to the Anchorage Daily News.
His daughter, Jieun Kang, described her father as someone who enjoyed being alone. He played golf because it gave him solitude.
Kang stayed behind the scenes at the restaurant, said his daughter, because he thought his customers would think less of the food if they knew it was prepared by a Korean couple.
