A Filipino Catholic priest in Philadelphia has turned himself into authorities and charged with the rape of a teenage girl five years ago.
Armand Garcia is accused of rape, recording a sex act and corrupting a minor, reports ABC-CBN.
The archdiocese suspended him a year ago when the allegations surfaced and police began their investigation, according to the Daily Local.
“The archdiocese is cooperating fully with law enforcement regarding this matter and remains fervently committed to preventing child abuse as well as protecting the children and young people entrusted to its care,” said Ken Gavin for the archdiocese.
The Philly Voice reported a year ago that police conducted a search warrant at Saint Martin of Tours Parish in Northeast Philadelphia where he served as pastor.
Garcia is currently out on bail.
