A drag queen competing in RuPaul’s Drag Race is being called racist after an offensive read challenge directed at Plastique Tiara, an Asian American contestant whose real name is Duc Tran Nguyen.
Silky Nutmeg Ganache tried to read in Japanese, repeatedly saying the words “Hayaku! which she said meant hurry up, reported Out.com.
“What the f*ck does that mean?” Plastique said. Silky tried to explain, but Plastique had to tell her “I’m not Japanese!”
You can watch the back and forth in the tweet below.
Pink News reported Season 11 queen Soju, a Korean American, tweeted : “I’m Korean and plastique is Vietnamese… This isn’t about dragging @GanacheSilky this is about educating. All of us can learn.”
Silky defended herself responding “I know your heritage. But what puzzles me is that reads that rhymes which I did to every girl has become I’m racist. Okay. Y’all can play into that if you want.”
Soju told Silky she’s not racist, but its not something that should be overlooked either.

“It’s just something that should be addressed because again we lack enough Asian awareness to realize just saying Japanese words to a Vietnamese person isn’t funny.”
