Ann Curry took to Twitter today to voice support for former NBC employee Brook Nevils. Nevils has alleged that former Today Show anchor Matt Lauer raped her in a hotel room at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Variety reports.
“Brooke Nevils is a credible young woman of good character,” Curry tweeted. “She came to NBC News an eager and guileless 20-something, brimming with talent. I believe she is telling the truth. And that breaks my heart.”
Lauer has also responded to Nevils’ accusations, saying he has “never assaulted anyone or forced anyone to have sex.”
This is not the first time Curry has spoken out in support of Lauer’s accusers. Curry spoke out against Lauer after allegations of sexual misconduct led to his firing in November of 2017, ET reports. In a January 2018 interview on CBS This Morning, Curry said that she wasn’t “surprised by the allegations.”
For years there was also speculation that Lauer was behind Curry leaving Today. Curry has not confirmed those rumors.
