The New York Police Department suspended a sergeant and an officer after an incident in which the later allegedly pointed a gun at a karaoke bar waitress, reports the New York Post.
That officer has been arrested and charged with two counts of menacing. Police did not arrest his commanding officer.
The two, Officer Hyun Kim, 25, and Sgt. Jung Kim, went out for what’s described as a boozy night at a bar on Crocheron Avenue.
Sources told the Daily News one of the waitresses asked Hyun if he was a gangster after noticing his gun.
“No, I’m a cop and this is my boss,” witnesses say he replied.
He then is said to have released the slide of the gun, causing the magazine to fall to the ground. He is accused of then pointing the gun and telling the waitress to come hang out or he would shoot her.
When the waitress reported the incident to her boss, the manager came out and saw Hyun pointing the gun at the head of another waitress, according to the Post.
“I want to know why they pointed their gun at the waitress, why was the reason for that?” said J.H. Lim, a nearby karaoke worker told the Post. “It doesn’t make sense if your life isn’t in danger, why pull out your gun?”
