Lisa Ling will produce an HBO Max travel docuseries, Deadline reports.
The series will be called Birth, Wedding, Funeral. It will explore different cultural traditions surrounding births, weddings and funerals. Each episode will be set in a different country. The theme of the series is based on idea from journalist Dan Rather, Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupree.
Part2Pictures will produce the series. Ling will serve as an executive producer for the series alongside Rather and Philip Kim.
“We are living in a deeply polarized world and I am elated for the opportunity to bring us closer to one another through stories about the most defining moments in people’s lives: their Births, Weddings and Funerals,” Ling told Deadline.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is part of an overall deal Ling made with HBO Max, a streaming platform that is set to launch in spring 2020. As part of the deal, HBO Max will have a first look at the projects Ling develops.
Ling currently serves the host of CNN’s This Life with Lisa Ling, which is in its sixth season. It airs on Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
