A Queens man stabbed his wife , then hanged himself on a tree reportedly because of an insane jealousy over his wife’s infatuation over a Bollywood star, reports the New York Daily News.
Dineshwar Budhidat had just married Donne Dojoy in July. By the next month, Dojoy won a restraining order against Budhidat after he slapped and choked her a week earlier in their apartment.
She worked as a bartender at a karaoke bar.
“I think he loved her but at the same time, he was obsessed with her, because of the type of job she did, and she had a good [sexy] body,” said Rodney, a friend of Dojoy for four years said to the New York Post.
Budhidat texted his wife’s sister Friday night telling her he had killed Dojoy and that the key could be found under a flower pot. He then left his wife’s body and hanged himself at Howard Beach.
Dojoy had earlier that day agreed to meet her husband at his apartment.
“I guess she wanted to give him another chance,” said Dojoy’s sister, Fannita Barakat, to the Daily News.
Friends said anytime Budhidat saw his wife watch a film with Bollywood heart throb Hrithik Roshan he asked her to turn it off. They say she had to see any movie Roshan appeared.
“It has to be jealousy,” a cousin said to the Daily News. “Because there’s nothing else—she’s sincere, genuine, honest.”
