A San Bernardino man is being held without bail for the murder of an Indian student on Thanksgiving Day, reports the San Bernardino Sun.
Eric Devon Turner, 42, turned himself in Saturday for suspicion of murder in the death of Abhishek Sudhesh Bhat. Friends say Bhat was watching a hotel for a friend.
“Everyone who knew him remembers him as a very sweet and caring person who went out of his way to help others. He had a good academic record at college and his professors and colleagues appreciated him dearly,” a Go Fund Me page set up on behalf of Bhat’s family said.
According to KTLA, Bhat hails from the city of Mysuru in India. He moved to the city to study at Cal State University San Bernardino. He also worked as a teacher’s assistant there.
The Sun reports police found Bhat on the ground where he was pronounced dead.
Police have no motive for the killing.
