Surveillance video has been released of a violent confrontation between a robbery suspect and a grocery store clerk in Bay Point, east of California.
NBC Bay Area reports the robbery happened late last night at Kam’s Market. The clerk is described as a military veteran.
The video shows a suspect behind the counter struggling with the clerk as he raids the cash register. A second suspect who is off camera is reportedly pointing a gun at the clerk. The clerk continues to resist and at one point the suspect behind the counter can be seen pistol-whipping the clerk across the head.
As both suspects take off, and with blood seen dripping from the clerk’s head, he gets up and points a gun at the suspects. The video cuts off before any shots are fired. It is not known how much shots the clerk fired, but police say he shot and killed the suspect who took the money. The other suspect escaped uninjured.
The clerk is described as being OK. The names of the clerk and the suspects have not yet been released.
