When Sandra Oh hosted the Golden Globes last year, she inspired many Asian Americans when she joined her family in wearing a t-shirt declaring “It’s an honor just to be Asian.”
That includes rapper Jason Chu and Creative director Tinhua who will have released their new video Honor.
Honor features 220+ video clips spanning 150+ years of Asian American triumphs, painful history, and everyday lives.
“We consider it important to embrace the good , the bad , and the ugly of our community’s truth,” said Chu. “We set the image of Tou Thao, complicit in the murder of George Floyd. We sought to portray a more complex narrative than the model minority stereotype, and part of this complexity is acknowledging that Asian Americans, a marginalized racial minority, are capable as individuals and communities of perpetrating anti-Blackness. “
Honor is part of Chu’s new album, Living Room, , which debuts today atgrandmaster.bandcamp.com and on all streaming services.
