The police department in Aurora, Colorado faces some intense scrutiny after an officer pointed his gun at a doctor’s head when he honked to request he move his vehicle from his driveway.
PJ Parmar, an Indian American, told 9News he intends to file a federal lawsuit charging the use of excessive force.
“He jumped out of his car,” Parmar said to 9 News. “Told me to get my bleeping hands in the air and was right at my door with his gun at my head.”
According to Fox31, on the body cam footage from the Aurora Police Department, you can hear the officer say “Let me see your f*cking hands, what are you doing?”
“You’re on my property, leave,” he responds.
Parmar says he drove on his property to drop off some gear from a boy scout trip when he noticed the officer blocking his path. He said he honked to get the officer’s attention.
“I was typing a report and he comes rolling in here like he’s about to assault me with his car,” the officer said on the footage to explain his actions.
Aurora Police have launched an internal investigation of the incident which originally happened on March 1, but have declined to comment.
“This is an example of White privilege,” Parmar’s attorney, David Lane said to 9 News. “This doesn’t happen to White people. How many White people in your audience have ever had a police officer draw a gun on them for simply pulling into their own parking spot?”
