A law enforcement official is telling the New York Times the brutal killing of Fahim Saleh in New York may be a hit job.
His sister found the body of the 33-year-old tech CEO and Bangladeshi American decapitated and dismembered.
Authorities say investigators found an electric saw still plugged into an electrical outlet along with cleaning supplies.
Sources had previously told the New York Post that the killing may have been interrupted.
According to a law enforcement official who spoke to the Times, the killer was dressed entirely in black and wore a black mask.
He followed Saleh from the elevator into his apartment. The assailant used a stun gun to incapacitate the victim.
CBS2 reports police have surveillance video of a possible suspect entering the building. They’re hoping to find additional video from the neighborhood of the suspect without a face covering. Police sources tell the station the sister who discovered the body entered the building at about the same time the suspect left.
They believe the suspect fled when the sister rang the bell from the lobby.
“I can’t imagine. My heart goes out to his family, friends, anyone who knew the guy,” said East Village resident Greg Connolly to CBS2.
Fellow residents in the luxury condo say Saleh is well known as he was an active member of the condo board.
“The unit owners, residents, board and management are all quite upset,” a statement released by the board read.
