It’s happened all too often. An Asian American customer waits for an order and then notices a racist term or disparaging term to describe them on the receipt.
But here’s a new one. An Asian-owned restaurant found an online order with the words “Ching Chong Ugly A** N***er Stupid F***ing B**ch Dumb**s *F***ing Stupid Motherf***er Suck My A** Wit. ⠀
Emily at Stix in San Francisco told Dion Lim of ABC7 that “We have to take it seriously. We can’t brush it off.”
Emily cancelled the order and when a customer actually picked it up, she refunded him.
The order was placed through the online ordering platform Square.
“from an engineering perspective the content was made on the customer end” and that it wasn’t a security breach. ⠀
She said the customer left the restaurant a bit “confused.”
