The girl punk rock band Linda Lindas capped a whirlwind 30 days Thursday night with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.
The girls played their new song Racist Sexist Boy in the Rock Against Hate benefit concert presented by AsAmNews, The Slants Foundation and Asian American Movies on May 6.
They also performed it at the Los Angeles Public Library that week. When the library posted the concert on social media weeks later, the group went viral-enough to capture the attention of LA punk label Epitaph Records which signed them to a record deal.
Then Thursday they made their national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel, explaining they wrote their song inspired by an incident with a male classmate. The girls said it didn’t matter to them if he knew about their song or their success, but Kimmel declared he hoped that boy was watching.
