A 14-year old girl who pleaded guilty to a carjacking which lead to the death of an Uber Eats driver will be imprisoned in juvenile detention until her 21st birthday, reports WUSA9.
Washington, D.C. juvenile judge Lynn Leibovitz sentenced the girl to the maximum allowable sentence for the incident in March.
A 15-year-old who also pleaded guilty in the death of Mohammad Anwar received the same sentence last month.
Anwar is described as both a father and grandfather with relatives both in the United States and Pakistan.
“He was a hardworking immigrant who came to the U.S. in 2014 to build a better life for himself and his family. The loss for his family is immeasurable,” his family said in a statement to NBC Washington.
He died when he refused to let go of the car door while the girls drove off in his vehicle before crashing it, killing Anwar. You can see video of the incident in the story below.
A Go Fund Me for Anwar’s family raised more than $1 million.
